ARMANDO CALO

 

 

Armando Caló, pianista, vocalista y compositor granadino, empezó a tocar el piano a los seis años de edad como alumno del Real Conservatorio de Música Victoria Eugenia de Granada. Comenzó a componer a los catorce y a partir de los diecisiete colabora con grupos de Rock sinfónico, New Age, Soul, Flamenco, Jazz y Músicas del Mundo.

 

Junto con Fran Lucas investiga la melódica hibridación entre piano y tabla hindú, explorando  la sonoridad de este tándem instrumental dentro del ámbito conocido como Músicas del Mundo, profundizando en la música de raíz: cantos difónicos mongoles, aires hindúes y africanos, influencias latinas fusionadas con palos flamencos, etc. También destaca su colaboración con músicos de jazz como Patrick Sinnamon. 

 

Con este trasfondo musical, el pianista, compositor y vocalista de sus propias letras puso rumbo a La Habana para recibir la enseñanza de Carlos Pla, respetado miembro de la Orquesta Aragón. Tras esta experiencia funda la banda musical Yahlé y con ella participa en 2004 en el Festival de Música Joven de Andalucía, recibiendo el Primer Premio del Festival. Impulsado por este éxito graba y auto-produce su primer LP D ´Esperanza, un disco que se mueve entre la música latina y el flamenco-fusión.

 

En diciembre de 2012 y tras un significativo reencuentro con María Romero renace el proyecto musical Secreto a Voces.

 

Armando Caló, pianist, vocalist and composer began to play piano at the age of 6 as a pupil of the Victoria Eugenia Royal Music Conservatory in Granada. He started composing at the age of 14 and has been collaborating since 17 with bands of Symphonic Rock, New Age, Soul, Flamenco, Jazz and World Music.

 

Together with Fran Lucas he investigated the melodic hybridization between piano and Indian tabla (drums), exploring the acoustics of this instrumental tandem inside the field known as World Music, deepening into root music; Mongolian overtone singing, Hindu and African winds, Latin influences fused with flamenco beats, etc. Also noteworthy is his collaboration with Jazz musicians such as Patrick Sinnamon.

 

Encouraged by this, the pianist and composer as well as singer of his own lyrics went to La Habana to become pupil of Carlos Pla  (member of the “Aragon Orchestra”). After this experience he founded the band Yahlé, with which he participated in the 2004 “Youth Musical Festival of Andalusia”, obtaining the first prize. Driven by this he recorded and self-produced his first LP “D ´Esperanza”, where he shifts between Latin and Flamenco-Fusion.

 

In December 2012 and after a meaningful encounter with Maria Romero, the group “ Secreto a Voces” (Open Secret) is reborn.
